If you are asking yourself this question, then you might need a lawyer. But are you willing to pay a lawyer to figure out if you need a lawyer or not?
With high prices everywhere, from groceries, to rent, to gas, its only natural that lawyer fees continue to rise. Knowing what information to provide and what questions to ask a lawyer can save you both time and money.
If you ask yourself the following questions, it can help you narrow your scope and find the right lawyer for your legal issue.
I bet you’re thinking “What is my legal issue?” If you are, then you are asking yourself the right question and you owe me a dollar.
If you’re not, then you should still ask yourself, “What is my legal issue?” This is the ultimate reason you want to talk to a lawyer. If you don’t have a legal issue, then you might want to talk to other professionals or governmental agencies to help with your issue.
Your legal issue is going to be tied to your end goal, what you hope to get out of talking to a lawyer. If you just want to learn the law, you probably don’t need a lawyer. You can go to law school to learn the law. Or you can read the many primary or secondary resources available online.
Your end goal can be related to money, to family issues, to property. It might be related to staying out of jail, or defending yourself against false allegations. Whatever your goal is, make sure YOU know what YOU want and are asking for.
After you have figure out your goal, ask yourself, “Is it worth my peace and money to pay someone else to get me what I want?” If the answer is yes, then you might want to talk to a lawyer.
