One of my first memories at my alma mater was the reveal of a new logo and artwork that said “East Eagels!” That was when Erica and I began our journey at Pueblo East High School in 2005.
Last week, Erica and I had the opportunity, or better yet, the honor to attend Pueblo East’s event celebrating 30 years of IB. Sadly, the original misspelled artwork and how I remembered the school was no longer there. It was torn down for the new building. The good thing was that the spirit of East was still alive as evidenced by the program and the people who showed up to celebrate.
I will never forget how to spell eagle. I take that memory and the many others from my time at high school as proof that basic education matters. I would not have been successful without the East, its people, and the IB program.
Take it from two east siders-now-lawyers, the Pueblo East IB program was fundamental in preparing us for the grueling practice of law. Go Eagles!
